Key Visa Subclasses Explained
Child Visa (Subclasses 101 & 802)
For biological, adopted, or step-children of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible NZ citizen. Child must be dependent and under 18 years old (or full-time student aged 18 to 25).
Remaining Relative (Subclasses 115 & 835)
For people whose only near relatives (parents, siblings, non-dependent children) are settled Australian citizens or permanent residents living in Australia.
Orphan Relative (Subclasses 117 & 837)
For children under 18 whose parents are deceased, permanently incapacitated, or whose whereabouts are unknown, sponsored by an eligible relative in Australia.
Adoption Visa (Subclass 102)
For children adopted outside Australia by an Australian citizen or permanent resident, in compliance with the Hague Convention or bilateral intercountry agreements.
